Large Keloid on Ear

This hypertrophic scarring/keloid developed on an industrial piercing from trauma and poor aftercare products used for cleaning. It was approximately double the size seen in the photo when she came in to the office. It was about 2/3" by 1/4" long.
After approximately 2 months
of Keloid treatments, this young lady is now Keloid free.

  2. i also have an industrial and i am now starting to get treatment for it. ive had my industrial for almost 4 years now and i had it repierced twice ever since ive had it. my keloid is about the size of this but on the outside part of my ear. the reason why im getting rid of it is becaue i hate hearing people talk about it and such; it isnt anything gross i just see it as a skin and it doesnt bother my family or friends but i hate hearing and seeing what people say about it in public so i know how it feels to have one such as this im glad this person got treatment (: good luck

  3. You shouldn't have repierced your industrial through existing keloids/hypertrophic scarring. Causing more trauma to the site could add to the problem. Check our AFTERCARE section on how to treat keloids.

  4. How do you guys treat hypertrophic scarring? i have a fairly large one on my snug. i got it pierced about a year ago, but slightly higher up than usual, so it went through a fair amount of cartilage. it had a scar but went away, however i recently took to sleeping on this ear about 3 weeks ago and i've got a large one come up. i was just wandering how you treat it, as i've been told that tea tree oil is really good, but don't want to irritate it furthur. thanks a lot!

    1. We can't guarantee that you will not develop a bump. There are a few different things that can cause irritation to your piercing. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to call or email us. info@westcoastpiercing.com or 604-584-BODY (2639)
